Working with sensitive content at Mindrift: Guidelines and support

Working with sensitive content at Mindrift

At Mindrift, we occasionally take on projects that involve sensitive content to train AI models. These projects are carefully designed to meet ethical and safety standards, while also ensuring the well-being of our freelancers.

Below is detailed information on how we manage such projects and how we care for freelancers working on them.

Age verification and consent

To participate in sensitive content projects, freelancers must be at least 21 years old. We verify age and require a formal agreement to work on these projects. This ensures that only those who are legally eligible and fully understand the nature of the work are involved.

Time limitations

We limit exposure to sensitive content by enforcing a maximum of 2 hours of work per UTC day. This restriction is designed to reduce the potential emotional or psychological strain that could come from prolonged exposure to challenging content.

Opt-out process

If a freelancer feels uncomfortable or no longer wishes to work on sensitive content, we offer a straightforward opt-out process. To stop working on the project, freelancers can fill out a special form, and they will be removed from the project within one business day. This option ensures that participants always have control over their involvement.

Comprehensive training and feedback

Before beginning work on sensitive content, all freelancers undergo paid, multi-step training. This training includes quizzes, practical tasks, and direct feedback to help freelancers understand the project requirements and categories of sensitive content they will be handling.

Freelancers also receive detailed feedback on completed tasks, particularly if a task is rejected. This helps them learn and adapt while ensuring the highest quality of work.

Task flexibility and safety measures

We believe in giving freelancers control over their work. Before starting a task, freelancers can see which category of sensitive content the task belongs to and choose to work only on categories they are comfortable with. Freelancers can also skip any task without penalties.

To protect freelancers from overexposure, we limit the number of hours they can work on sensitive content each day. Additionally, we provide a direct line of communication for freelancers to ask questions or request support at any time.

Importance of these projects

Sensitive content projects are essential in training AI models to understand and manage complex scenarios safely and effectively. These projects help AI systems navigate critical areas such as privacy, safety, and content moderation. By working on these projects, freelancers contribute to the development of technologies that make digital platforms safer for users around the world.

Emotional well-being and support

We understand that working with sensitive content can be emotionally taxing. That’s why we have set up robust support systems, including clear communication channels, so freelancers can express any concerns or request additional help.

In the event that a freelancer wants to switch to a different project or take a break, we accommodate those needs as quickly as possible.

At Mindrift, we value the well-being of our freelancers and ensure that they have the resources and flexibility they need when working on sensitive content. Should you have any concerns, feel free to contact us through our support system.
